The Serious CTO Manifesto
Code matters.
But code is not the whole job.
The people who get trusted with real decisions learn how systems fail, how teams hide risk, how incentives bend architecture, and how to explain the truth before the truth becomes an incident report.
What I believe
- Better engineers do not just move tickets. They make the work safer.
- If nobody owns the context, the loudest person owns the decision.
- Hero culture is usually bad planning wearing a cape.
- Architecture is not diagrams. It is consequences with boxes around them.
- Your career changes when your judgment becomes visible.
What I refuse to sell
No fake guarantees. No motivational wallpaper. No “just grind harder” nonsense from people who have never carried production at 2 a.m.
If you want easy answers, the internet is full of them. Bring a shovel.
